IKD is a remake of the tank game from Atari's Combat or its arcade precursor Tank. It was the first pack-in game included with the original Atari 2600 as released in 1977. You earn points by shooting the other tank.

Combat was one of the first video games I ever played and IKD is the first program I have written in C. Whilst I don't claim it to be of high quality, it should be simple enough for a beginner programmer to understand the source code.

  • Two players - its two player only.
  • Two different mazes (or no maze).
  • Toggle Bouncy bullet mode.
  • Walls! (sausages)

  • Left: rotate tank anti-clockwise.
  • Right: rotate tank clockwise.
  • A: shoot.
  • Up or B: move forward.

Forum Discussion

I documented IKD's development in great detail on the Uzebox forum.
