Sitewide updates

Post by uze6666 »

FYI, I updated the 3 main applications today (forums, wiki and news). They were, should I say, quite a bit out of date. Let me know if you see anything wonky. Besides a ton of security patches, bug fixes and unnecessary new features, the wiki is now finally mobile friendly! Just the main site needs fixing now, but it will need a complete rewrite. Argh.

Edit:
Fun facts. Last update was in 2017. Today, in the mean time, I had to apply:
  • Phpbb (this bulletin board): ~50 updates
  • MediaWiki (the wiki): ~90 updates
  • Wordpress (the news site): 150+ updates
Thanks god Installatron took care of most of that successfully for me. (praying hands emoticon)

Ever since Uze updated the forum etc, the Uzebox sites (the website, wiki and forum) have all been much slower for me than they were before. Its been this way for months (since just after the updates) but I've only just now decided to bring it up, maybe I expected someone else would say something but I expect they were waiting on Mr Bugreport himself to do it :D

Anyone else noticed the Uzebox sites being laggy since?

I've noticed this seemingly since this update as well. Haven't looked into it since it wasn't usually too bad, but a few times it does seem to stall.

I'll try to use a browser debug to see if there is a specific part that's slowing it down, but I supposed it could be the whole PHP backend being heavier/upgraded(with SSL) has increase the webserver load.

I wanted to give the updated Arkanoid2 a go but the link to the .uze ain't werkin! I get a Content Encoding Error when I try to download it

https://uzebox.org/wiki/Arkanoid

https://uzebox.org/wiki/images/f/f1/Arkanoid2.uze

In fact all files that I've tried to download from the Uzebox wiki are giving me a content encoding error atm.

Interesting, the .uze file indeed has issues where the .hex does not. At least I was able to download https://uzebox.org/wiki/images/5/5a/Arkanoid2.hex can you confirm? Pretty sure only Alec can fix that.

Work around until that's figured out:

Most ROMs are there anyway, and you can download them.

Yes, that link works and I was aware of Nick's site as a backup for roms, thanks.

If you want to download all of the games at once, you can clone his repo:
https://github.com/nicksen782/OnlineUzeboxPlayer
or download a .zip file of the repo, and extract just the games directory, telling your zip program to not create directories so it puts all of the games and their files into a single directory, which you can then copy to an SD card.

The repo is at: https://github.com/nicksen782/OnlineUzeboxPlayer.

However, there is not a zip file there of games as Artcfox said but the repo does contain the games and you can clone it.

There IS a link here though: https://uzebox.org/wiki/Latest_Rom_List to: https://nicksen782.net/a_demos/download ... 180105.zip
You can see by the date in the filename that the zip is old. I probably should make a new one with all the games that the Online Emulator has.

Thanks for reminding me!
