Looking to buy a Uzebox kit

Post by devurandom »

I am interested in trying to assemble a Uzebox, but I seem to have trouble with any of the stores. The Adafruit one says it can't ship to my location, and the webshop that should sell the EUzebox doesn't have one available. Can anybody help pick a store that has a Uzebox available (and ships to Russia), or, if that's impossible, give some advice on finding its components (and assembling it) elsewhere?

Hi, sorry for the late reply, I was not too available in the past months. At this point, only Adafruit ships kits. So your only option is to source the parts yourself. Does digikey, mouser or Farnell ships in Russia? Do you have such an online electronic store in Russia? After that, you can check the BOM from the main site's download section.

For my part I can send you a free PCB, I have plenty lying around. Just send me a PM with your address.

Cheers

I eventually ordered one from a Chinese store, which basically re-sold the Adafruit kit to me. I managed to assemble it into a working state (with few issues, even though this was my first project that involved soldering anything), with the exception of the controller ports. In order to avoid it ending up messy, I basically decided to order two SNES controller extension cables and turn _them_ into controller ports by wiring their cables to the five through-holes provided separately.

(So far, I'm still waiting on the extension cables.)

Just a heads up: Controller extension cables often have delicate hair-like wires that are very difficult to solder and needs to be solidly secured to not snap.

They're very flexible but are a pain to work with.

Getting a bit of practice and then soldering controller ports is probably still your best option
