How to get Uzebox PCBs

Post by uze6666 »

Many have asked me how to obtain some Uzebox PCBs. Although I have a bunch of them lying around, shipping them is very expensive and sometimes takes forever when shipped outside of North America. That's why I recommend to have them made just for you at https://jlcpcb.com. I've used them many times in the past 2 years and the quality is excellent and they will make you 5 Uzebox PCBs for just 2$ + shipping! The procedure is quite simple and I'll describe it here in case some thinks it may be a daunting task.

Step 1 : Upload the pcb manufacturing files (aka gerber files). Download the zip file attached at the end of this post, go to the instant quote page and upload the zip file as-is. This is the latest PCB revision with the "Uzenet extension" which add the ESP8266+SPI RAM.

Step 2 : When upload is complete you can select the options you want. By default all options are the ones required. You can choose the color you want at no extra cost. Optionally you may choose a different surface finish at an extra cost, which is calculated and shown to you in real time. Insure the parameters are as follow. Alternatively, you may choose a different PCB color, usually for the same price and lead time.

Step 3 : Add to cart. Just choose the right shipping for you and you're done. As you can see, if you're a bit patient you can get 5 PCBs for under USD 5$!

After creating an account and submitting your order, you can follow the build process and know when it's complete and shipped. Pretty neat. :P

Once you receive your PCBs, check out the assembly guide: http://uzebox.org/files/UzeboxAssemblyGuideV1.7.pdf

The Bill of material and schematics are available here.

It wasn't until reading this thread that I discovered there is an assembly guide for the UB.

I have been unable to find a link to this file anywhere on the UB website. On the Downloads page ( http://uzebox.org/download.htm ) there is a link to to an assembly guide for the UB portable but no link to this guide for the regular UB.

Indeed there is no direct link from the website to that document. Seems the link was only included in the box with the kits that were sold at Adafruit. I added the link to the downloads page. Thanks for flagging this!
