DUzebox - Development Board

Hey guys,
today I finished my development board for my Euzebox.
The last Uzebox I built was more compact in order to use it as a standalone. So, the boxes I built before were designed to fit in some enclosures.

Now I also built a pickaback board which can be plugged onto the Euzebox. So I have a game console at first and with the second board I can develop the hardware.
The board comes with the following features: (until now)
  • ISP interface
  • I²C Interface with pin headers
  • I²C IC socket for external ser. EEProm or LM75 Temp. sensor (e.g.: for the Thermometer app of Harty)
  • Sound output with LM386 for external speaker
  • RGB + HSYNC Output on pin header
  • digital controller Input for Amiga, PC or C64 Joysticks and controller. (switchable between Player1 and Player2)
I also think about:
  • MIDI IC socket
  • some play arounds with video, hdmi, AD725, etc.
It's alsways an ask conscience, to build an Uzebox to fit in an existing and present enclosure or only on a circuit board in order to let it modular.
I've got a Playstation2 fat enclosure and I thought about it to build the Uzebox in this enclosure, but I think the PS2 enclosure is to big and has to many big holes on the front and back.
So I decided to build a naked Euzebox :)

Looks cool, are you going to put the SPI RAM on there?

Would be an option. I don't know yet :)

Looks cool! I'm sure it's way more reliable then my breadboard version.

Wow that looks very nice man! HDMI would be a killer feature for sure.
As for the enclosure, I just finished my euzebox build into a Thomson router enclosure (you know, the ones ISPs give you when you sign up) and it fits like a dream!

Ditto for HDMI, although it sounds like a major project. Probably not too bad, with one of those cheap tiny component/RGB->HDMI converters stripped down to a dautherboard(or use the case?).

Nice build here, I like it 8-)

FYI:
I built a new one!
It's a combination of Euzebox and Uzebox Jamma.
All Out- and Inputs are routed to pinheaders. Sound is choosen by a jumper between direct to Scart or using the LM386 Amp.
It's got the coin counter and the MIDI interface.

I'm still waiting of my ordered CD4021 and I'm looking for a small TV 'cause my LCD got some timing issues.
But the PCB works well!

CD4021 arrived.
Everything works fine. I'm happy!

But I am thinking about the coin counter circuit.
It is an output. But some systems are using inputs for coins like small micro switches.
So what is common?
