EdUzebox (EuroSCART SMD version)

Over the last few months I have built an SMD version with EuroSCART output for European televisions.

Everything that is needed to build it (KiCAD schematic, Gerbers, BOM, 3D case) can be located in this repository:

https://github.com/eduardofilo/eduzebox

Specifically, the important files are in last release:

https://github.com/eduardofilo/eduzebox/releases/tag/v2

I have written a post relating the creation process (in spanish I'm afraid, but you can use automatic translation) in this location:

http://apuntes.eduardofilo.es/2020-02-08-eduzebox.html

Thanks to all the colleagues (many of them) on whom I have based this project, and of course to @uze6666 for designing this interesting platform.

Huh, that's a nice and compact little board, well done! Using well the size benefit of SMD components, compacting it, and using KiCad is also nice, all the way open source! :) I like the blog post too, even though I don't understand your language, it is clear you did quite some work and research doing it all, very well done!

Wow, very impressive! I may try to build one and get an SCART to HDMI converter box to use it in the US.

Nice work.

One suggestion if you ever do another spin would be that C7 is a bit lonely.

I would add extra 100n close to the other VCC pins.

Thanks for the suggestion. I surely will give it another spin because I placed the RESET button in an stupid position.

Great work!!, I love your smd version, is very cool and your post blog is amazing, I like how you describe everything step by step is very usefull

By the way, the breadboard, whitch you comment in your blog I think is mine.I had it exhibited at the stand that Retroparla set up at Retrozaragoza 2019
along with a pcb kit that we assembled in a workshop that we organized in the RetroParla association.I'm glad it was useful as a reference or inspiration

Despite the fact that I have my version in THT and a Jamma uzebox, it is possible that in the future, when I send a pcb to be manufactured, I will place an order for your pcb, to entertain myself soldering it

Yes sir, seeing that board in RetroZaragoza was the spark for my project. So you are responsible of all the fun that I had with it. Such a small world...

Impressive project Eduardo and very well documented, it seems. My Spanish is pretty much non existant but it looks great :)

Are you aware of anyone having used the gerbers to build their own EdUzebox yet? I have updated two pages on the wiki to mention EdUzebox:

https://uzebox.org/wiki/Homemade_Uzebox ... s#EdUzebox

https://uzebox.org/wiki/Uzebox_SCART_Interface#EdUzebox

It seems you know your way around KiCAD well enough. Have you tried importing the reference Uzebox gerber file into KiCAD? I got quite a lot of errors when I tried it:

Any feedback you might be able to give on that would be great.
