Anyone else currently working on a new game?

Post by Artcfox »

I'm just curious, as it seems I am close to finishing the one I have been working on. Somehow I found myself sucked into another marathon MIDI transcription session, this time doing it frame-by-frame looking at a Synthesia YouTube video for the notes. I have to say it is easier than transcribing the notes by name, but it still is super-tedious.

I tried a Python program that is supposed to analyze the video and produce a MIDI automatically, but it didn't work well for this video. I thought about writing my own in C, but there is something relaxing about hand transcription and checking your work periodically to see how it sounds.

The way I see it is I have spent a couple of months planning and coding this game, so I should put in the extra effort to get the exact version of the song that I like the best in it. I just hope I have enough space free after in case I need it for something else.

I have a PCM sound effect that takes up 7.4KB, so if worst comes to worst, I can probably shorten that, but I don't really want to.

I've been working on these. I need music and sound effects for the games still!

Wow, that's really awesome!

I haven't played UNO in forever.

I often find the music and sounds to be the hardest part.

They both look good!

Still very slowly working on T2K and then will knock out SuperHexagon.

GGVicViper has made me want to make an interpretation of Gyruss as well though.

If anyone wanted to make Elite or Driller/Total-Eclipse with the RLE mode - I will help with that. I just know I am too slow to bother starting something big like that as it would never get finished.

Finally I also have a super secret video mode I am working on that I hope will astound and amaze.

Sweet! I'm looking forward to an ultra-polished T2K and then SuperHexagon. I have trouble just following the action of people playing SuperHexagon, so I have no idea if I will be able to play it well myself, but the Uzebox definitely needs more twitch-reaction games.

Ah yes! I have seen that game before, I just forgot its name.

It will be cool to see that on UB. I reminds me of one of the best Atari 8 bit games, Yoomp!
