It is a property of the FAT16 filesystem, not the library. Using a long file name can easily burn 3 entries: https://superuser.com/questions/1539528 ... on#1539555

I wouldn't want to see closed source games for the Uzebox! Part of what makes the Uzebox and its license so awesome is when a game does something cool, everyone can learn from it, and it advances the state of the art. Just look at how the games have progressed and evolved over the years.

For FAT16, there is a limited number of files that can be in the root directory. Using long filenames takes up multiple of those directory entries, so it would very much limit the amount of files that one could store on the SD card. I don't see any advantage of moving to a 2-part bootloader over what we have now, unless it means that games can be 2K larger than before?

Have you considered using Dear ImGui? I know that uses SDL2, and can be compelled with Emscripten.

Glad you were able to fix your issue quickly. The end loop was something I ended up discovering, and I am glad that I added the comment in the patches.inc file.
