How many Uzeboxes have you built?

So far I have built one fully working Uzebox 1.3.3 and four Uzebox Omegas. I will soon be building my sixth Uzebox in order to test the new Omega PCB, when Thorsten uploads it. Most people will have only built one Uzebox, if they have ever Uzeboxed, so five probably puts me pretty high up in the Uze...

Re: Peripheral Tester

I think you're right that 2 actual host system mice isn't reasonable in emulation. But let's consider something I'd like to build, a 2 player Missile Command! Or Warlords, it would suck being stuck digital. If the user has 1 or more analog gamepads, it would be nice to offer that option. Having mor...

Re: New computer

Great to hear Defender is in progress.

It seems like an optimum game for the Uzebox and its spec. Most of the other 8 bit platforms don't have enough buttons to do a proper conversion. Defender has a sizeable fan club so having the best 8 bit Defender version would be a notable win.

Re: uLua

Lua is popular with kids because its probably the most popular scripting language used in games.

Re: Insane Contraption

Maybe when James Sharman has completed his you might be able to build a complete one. I've got no hope of eve documenting either of the ones I did in the past. I've definitely seen at least one of James' videos but I don't know his work well enough to compare. There's loads of Youtubers building DI...

Re: Uzebox 3D printed enclosure!

I printed another Cover_50u_clear.3mf today. 50u seems a pretty good fit for the logo in the repo, its fits quite nicely but the logo usually falls out when I turn it upside down using 50u. I woud like it to be held in place a bit more tightly. I'll have to print another 25u now to see if thats as I...

Re: Insane Contraption

The only other retro DIY computer I've seriously considered building and the only other one that I find interesting that is all through hole, is the Otter X16 Commander X16 clone but they don't seem to be available any more. They were about $250 so its about as much as I'd be willing to spend on a n...

Re: Peripheral Tester

on real hardware I could see users plugging in 2 mice(or N64 controllers). It would be sad if this wasn't possible in emulation. I think we'll struggle emulating two mice. A quick search kinda concludes that ain't gonna fly realistically. Two mice supposedly kinda works under Linux GNOME X11 but I'...

Re: Uzebox Ω - easier to build, SCART friendly Uzebox

Thorsten has almost finished the new Omega PCB revision. I've asked him to make a couple more minor changes. I expect he'll be up loading it and I'll be ordered some PCBs within the next week.

uLua

Most of the modern retro computers come with some form of BASIC. That's nice but nobody actually uses BASIC in 2024. If we're going to have some kind of interpreter or REPL for the Uzebox it makes more sense to use a popular language that people actually use today, like Lua: uLua aimed to run Lua sc...
