Update! Here's the games poster updated with Cosam's games. I had to add another row so I threw in two more games. Also, here's some first cut 4"x3" "postcards" I intend to have on the table. 8-)

On the last pic, you will have recognized Ninja Beatdown's sprites arranged in the classical NES game pak layout! Looks pretty cool IHMO. Things start to look interesting!

Comments and ideas welcomed!

P.S.: For the main game poster, let me know if you're happy with your forum alias or would like to have your real name on there.

Hey this postcards are really a great idea!

It's for me not a problem to see my name on this poster.

Hi guys,

Being at Maker Faire was pretty cool. I met quite a few peoples that knew about the project, had a Fuzebox or were quite interested in it. The stand was busy non-stop for all the week-end. So much in fact that me or my brother didn't even had time to go see all the cool stuff that outside...if I go next year, it will be as a tourist this time! I must have given away 250-300 cards of the Uzebox and Uzebox JAMMA so hopefully, the community will grow a bit more. My brother will send me a couple pics we took, so I'll post more when I receive them.

Oh yeah and a funny one, near the end on Sunday, a cameraman from MTV Brazil was around looking for classic gaming stuff and came over to the stand to interview me! 8-) Wasn't too hard, I just repeated my salesman pitch for the 453rd time! Anyhow, Nebososo, let us know when it airs!

Cheers!

Good times ! Maker faire was a blast ! Definitely need to go back , but as a visitor this time.

Tons of people stopped by , and although not everything happened as planned , we improvised and had a great presence at the faire. We did not expect Sooo many young kids to crowd the booth, amazingly retro games appeal to them, and their parents . I don't how many times I heard, "son, this is how games looked like when I was your age" ;)

Another interesting point. We quickly realized that 95% of the public believed is was an emulator on custom hardware until we explained that it wasn't . So we started our sales pitch with "this is not emulation, these are not Roms " . Some guy even started accusing us of copyright infringemeny. Lol

Since I only ever made one game for the uzebox, I thought I would have problems with highly technical questions but very few people actually ever asked anything complicated.

Uzebox ftw

I believe it! Even when I have gone to our large state fairs here in Washington I notice the guy selling a controller with a bunch of hacked nes roms on them and it is very very obvious that it may be illegal. Programming and making games can take a lot of time and effort, so I can see how people would think we would rip games and say otherwise when several of the games are remakes. To the untrained eye the Uzebox could be seen the same way with several of the titles that we have... Donkey Kong, Dr. Mario, Pacman, etc. These games are clearly trademarked, and the communities reconstruction of them are in an attempt to be quite true to the originals. To the community though, its remaking a classic on different hardware from scratch. It's also exciting for the challenge because we know we will enjoy to reward (a game we enjoy).
