I recently received my Uzebox kit, from Sparkfun, and I am having trouble connecting to it. I have the STK500 compatible USB programmer and no matter what I do I cant seem to get it to work.
I have power going to the Uzebox board but no matter what AVR studio is unable to connect to it. I noticed when I first plugged in the programmer windows was complaining about the drivers so could there be an issue there?
Anyone have any thoughts as to what is wrong?

Re: STK500 compatible programmer
I've ordered a serial/usb adapter lately so I can use my STK500 again and try to help a few folks here having problems. I hope it will come in this week.
Now that I think of it, I do think you need to have some USB drivers installed when using AVR studio and I think they can be installed when installing AVRStudio (though they may be only for AVRISPMKii). Try reinstalling the latter to install the drivers (if not already done of course ). Do you know if you had to install specific drivers for your USB programmer?

Re: STK500 compatible programmer
You don't say what OS you're using.
I have Windows XP.
When I connected the STK500 via the USB port it's asks for a driver that I installed from here:
http://www.olimex.com/dev/soft/avr/AVR- ... isp500.zip
To check if your driver is installed ok,
right click on my computer
select properties
go to the hardware tab
select device manager
open ports (com & lpt)
olimex virtual com - avr -isp500 (com3) should be there
also in AVR studio you should see this window
