Frogger

Postby paul » Wed Jul 14, 2010 1:39 am

hi all,

Frogger is a relatively close re-make of the C64 version of the classic arcade game. Beat your best score or play vs your friends. Frogger was made using video mode 2.

Controls
- Up, Down, Left, Right: Control Frogger's movement
- Start: Start game, pause
- Select: End current game

Gameplay 1P
- Extra life for each 1000 pts
- Lose a life if the time runs out before all frogs are housed
- Game difficulty increases on each level that is a multiple of 3.

Gameplay 2P
- When a round is complete, the difference in housed frogs is subtracted from the losing player's score.
- Last surviving player wins

I don't really have a whole lot else to say about it :P I hope you have fun with it!

Thanks again to Uze for helping with the music conversion :)

Source is here.

Edit:

- Made music softer and sfx louder in new .uze and .hex

Another solid game Paul! :D I always loved Frogger but found most versions had boring music, but then you took on the C64 version which is great and very catchy! And the 2P mode is a great addition too. On the technical side, it's the perfect use of video mode 2's multiple screen sections and a great tutorial for it. I recommend anyone wanting to use mode 2 to have a look at the sources, they are well commented and easy to follow.

Awesome, paul.
This game is so hard, I couldn't even make it past level 01 (after 6 tries).
Can't wait for my new micro sd reader to arrive to play it on the real hardware with a friend.

Best I have done is level 6 with 4 frogs home. At level 6 it gets quite fast and requires some patience in timing the sports cars and lorries.

Excellent work! My only complaint is that the `bounding boxes' on my frog seem to be a little big. No way did that race car hit me!! :P
