I noticed when using the emulator that the screen feels "stretched", is there any reason for this - do the roms look fine on real TVs?
Was the window size based on higher resolution and I'm just using something lower?

Yes, it shows correctly on a real TV (see the videos). IIRC, It's due to the fact that "standard" TV pixels are non-square (4/3) but monitors pixels are square.
