Changing the clock on the emulator?

Post by Nikiz »

I have been looking on the source code to find how to change the speed of the emulation. How I change it to like 35 MHz? I want to see what happens. Well, I did play with the "clocks"-values, but I ended up to screw up the video + audio and sometimes it crashes. It did however change the speed somehow. Is there another way to change the speed or does this happen on real hardware on higher clocks?

I don't think you can really change the clock speed of the emulation. AFAIK, what appears in the emulator's title bar is an approximation based on the number of cycles elapsed during a video frame. And such frame generation is in turn synched on the sound sampling rate, which is fixed (since it's controlled by the host system). If anyone else knows more how it's done, be sure to let us know.
