A hello

hello everyone, i came across this project after playing zelda on my nes recently and thinking about how cool it would be to create a game on such a weak 8-bit platform. :D
i remembered an article i read a few years back about xgamestation. so i looked it up again and saw that it's not very hardware-diy, and they don't seem to support linux very well. after more searching, i came here. :P

i only have "hello world" experience and creating a command line calculator in both c and c++, so it looks like diving into the uzebox platform shouldn't be too hard. i also have experience creating simple circuits like oscillators and audio amplifiers. do you think uzebox is right for me?

Welcome to the Uzebox community!

Asking the question is answering it! ;) What made the Uzebox so appealing since the beginning is it's open source nature and the great contributions it attracted. From a full fledged multi-platform emulator and tool set, a ton of demos and documentation and hardware kits, I think there's much to love for aspiring hobbyists or even seasoned engineers!

Btw, I think it's possible to make a custom/minimalist version of the original Zelda for the Uzebox that would still be fun and keep the spririt of the game.

Cheers!

hehe, i was hoping that was the case. :D i'm surprised nobody has tried that, other than the unfinished zelda 2 clone. and it looks like there's no source to the zelda 2 :(

anyway, that's probably a little far off. i just compiled the emulator from svn and created my first "hello world" for it. maybe when i get a little better i can collaborate with someone else on here to create a zelda game.
