Topics on software tools like TileStudio, comments on documentation and tutorials (or the lack of) should go here.

Post by uze6666 »

Just found out this great site about pixel art & techniques. This thread lists lots of tools & tutorials:

I just fail so much at art, I've given up  I think that's evidenced through my octotron submission  I'm ok at touching up someone else's artwork, though.

I'll post something useful to go with my whining:

In case anyone is doing a fantasy-themed rpg.

Edit:

Also, this one is a goldmine for isometric sprites:

Here's some amazing sprites, most are 8x8 and convey a lot of character! This oryx guy did a fantastic job.

Also, I like GraphicsGale for pixel art.

@Uze Do you think it would be useful to have a msg board top level category for free game resources?

Wow, indeed it's amazing for mere 8x8 sprites! If only we could have such pixel artist on this board  ! As for the top level category, what kind of stuff would you see in there?

Maybe a section for music. A section for graphics. A forum may not be the best way to share. But GIMP xcf's, png-8s, and .inc files from gconvert. MIDIs and raw uze music and patches. Just a place to share raw materials.

IMHO, the wiki should be used for all of those things as anyone can add stuff in some structured way. If some specific file type are required (and not currently supported for upload) let me know and I'll adjust the Wiki's settings.
