How do you manage the RAM in this game by the way? It feels like it doesn't need RAM tiles, so you are likely using a simple video mode (Mode 5 I guess), so you have sufficient RAM for the game state. How large is that? You might repurpose some info from the VRAM (tile indices coding which plant is there), but I rather guess you have a separate region for it (as the field seems to be 2x2 tile organized, apparently 11x11 which is rather small for state, although by the screenshot it is a bit odd how you have 3 tile rows of bare ground on the top and bottom instead of 2 which would align with the plants).

By the way there was also a quite similar game in idea for the PC by Maxis which I played a lot in my childhood: SimFarm I always wrecked the crop duster plane in that, it took years until I figured out I can land on the airport... :P

no - i will need RAM tiles only for the gardener. All other animations are made without sprites. :D
