Anyone up for a collaboration to do something amazeballs?
Re: Anyone up for a collaboration to do something amazeballs?
The Portal demake is sure interesting. I don't know what kind of crazy video mode would beat out Mode 3 for that though. Any ideas what could be done there?

I think Fire and Ice and Elfmania both used HAM. I'm sure there were other HAM games too.

The RLE mode would be perfect for stunt care racer. Look at the RLE cobra demo

@D3thAdd3r - I don't think the Uzebox would need to de-make portal so far as to be 2D like the C64 version. I think the Uzebox could do a MUCH better version of portal than the C64
Re: Anyone up for a collaboration to do something amazeballs?
I could see a pre-baked bitmap of a level rotating stored on SD. It could be 1 layer the player can never get behind, and a layer the player could get behind sometimes drawn sometimes not(depending if it needs to go away for the player to see). Not sure if that could work, but if it did, you wouldn't have to give up the vertical aspect of the original game as it appears the C64 version does based only on that screenshot.

I've never actually played the official Portal, but back when I worked at a startup, this 2D version of Portal was quite popular with the devs: https://portal.wecreatestuff.com/
If it wasn't for the left/right clicking of the mouse, and having to precisely position things quickly, I think I could probably pull the physics engine off using a slightly modified Bugz engine.
