EUzebox - a SCART based Uzebox for the EU

Topics regarding the Uzebox hardware/AVCore/BaseBoard (i.e: PCB, resistors, connectors, part list, schematics, hardware issues, etc.) should go here.

EUzebox - a SCART based Uzebox for the EU

Post by Harty123 »

Hi,

this is a continuation of the discussion about an Uzebox for the european market with the following features:

- 90° SCART socket on board
- 9 - 12V AC/DC power supply
- optional MIDI interface
- full THT design for easy assembly
- fits in Hammond 1455L1202 aluminium case

At the moment I creating the layout. I will offer a part kit with PCB and all parts except the parts for the MIDI interface. Furthermore I will offer an enclosure kit with the milled alluminium case, illuminated stainless steel reset button and additional socket for connection.

Feel free to add your wishes and comments to this thread.

-Harty

Great work!

I made my own RGB-only Uzebox and used the same output as Sega Master System, Sega Genesis/Megadrive and Neo Geo consoles, a 8 pin circular DIN connector. The small size of the connector (compared to the SCART one) and the use of SMD parts allowed me to enclosure the system in a small Hammond RL6115 ABS case.

I'm looking forward seeing your design!

Hi Harty,

scheme looks very simple, I think PCB will be simplier than Uze's.

Are there any problems with making PCB design? I think it's an easy task, but I know nothing about designing PCBs (except for playing with Eagle a little). Please let me know, if you need some help.

I am looking forward to have my own (E)Uzebox!

The layout is nearly finished. You will find the first draft in the attachment. I will order 2 or 3 samples and check these PCB's first, before I will order bigger quantities. I used TARGET 3001 for schematic and layout;

Hi,

today I received the first 2 PCB samples (see picture below). I will assemble this PCB's tomorrow and check the layout during the assembly. :D

Thx. The dimension is 100 x 120 mm. It fits exactely in a Hammond 1455L1202 case.

More about the test of this PCB's and my EUzebox kits in the next days.

I will start selling the first kits in July. Each kit based with the following:

* PCB
* All parts except for MIDI interface and connector for external reset button and LED
* preprogrammed ATMEGA644 (with bootloader)

Comes up to 49€ per kit. You can reserve a kit here. If I reach 10 firm orders I order them.
