Question about resistor values on Uzebox Minimal

Postby Klogboob » Thu Dec 16, 2010 7:43 pm

Now that Christmas is around the corner I wanted to start something new with microcontrollers. I decided to build a Uzebox, on a breadboard and bw for now. Looking at the minimal schematic (http://belogic.com/uzebox/schematics/uz ... mal_v2.pdf) I found some really weird resistor values. I thought it would be better to post first before buying the parts. 1071K? 4284K?! Is that normal and I'm just a newbie or is it a typo?

Thanks and congratulations for your work!

I can't recall who came up with those values, but obviously, they represent the best calculated values to obtain the desired .7volts. Apart the 500ohm used for sync, you use any close enough values you have and that will do the trick. We are talking about very subtle difference in luminance here, so imprecise resistor values won't really make a difference. Now that you mention it, I've put it on my todo list to put standard values in there.

Thanks and congratulations for your work!

And thanks for your interest in the project! :P Post some pics when you get it to work, we all love to DIY Uzeboxes!

Thanks for your reply!

Yes, that's what I thought it would be the best to do. I will choose the closest values. 1MΩ (1071K) is way too much for what I've encountered in digital electronics this far, thats why I posted! Hehe, we live to learn! :D

A side note: I have also read many other topics about PAL and NTSC. I live in Europe and every TV I had never had problems with NTSC. For example, in 1996 we used the NTSC cable for PSX to play NTSC games (don't know why, I was 5-6 years old back then :P). Televisions automatically change, so you don't have to worry about us in Europe! Sony and Phillips are the brands that I'm sure they automatically change for some years now.
