Let me share my last HW project - I've made and "enclosure on steroids" for UzeBox.
It consists of 2 parts - let's say "top" and "bottom"
Bottom contains everything UzeBox related - device itself, power switches, SD card slot, gamepads jacks.
Top has screen and A/V outputs. I also added 7805 + USB output to power up the USB speakers (someday).
Here is the back side
Jacks for TV, 3.5 audio output for external speakers, reset switch and led.
Also there are 2 switches - one powers UzeBox, second powers screen - for example you can use device as "External monitor".
And here are some guts:
Again, 2 switches are made for separate powering of UzeBox and screen. For example, I can connect the DTV game and play =) without powering UzeBox.
In Russia we have a LOT of bootleg Famicoms and often their gamepads (nes-compatible) are standart DB9 jacks. I just cut of original SNES connectors and soldered DB9-F connectors, wiring power/data/latch/clock/gnd same way, they are wired in bootleg Famicoms. So I can use both - NES and SNES joysticks. Looks like "developer edition"
Just in case - beware of "SNES pads" from AliExpress/Ebay, use only reliable sellers. My last batch of SNES joysticks were completely malfunctional. I figured this out only yesterday =(.
So part list and prices
- Case - about 5 Euro
DB9 jacks - about 2 euro each
Monitor - one from AliExpress, used for car rear camera. Fortunately, my one is 4:3, so no distortion.
Rest - buttons, led, switches, 7805IC, USB jack - were found is "scrap metal" and were almost "free".
SNES pads - ones i bought 5 years ago at Ali as "first batch". Don't remember price, but something cheap. As I mentioned second batch of SNES stuff were completely unusable. Still need to figure out, what to do with them.
Happy crafting
