Hey all

This part AE7140-ND is no longer available so i was wondering if this Substitute AE10053-ND part will work???'

Hello All,

So I've been busy teaching myself PhP and haven't gotten around to giving a list of parts to my dad to order, and Im looking at Clay's AVCORE 1.2 schematic and I see: ALPS_MICRO_SD_SCHA, under the SD Reader [module?]. I figured it was a part number....without a number :? . So I Googled it and got one result... Clay's schematic pdf :o . So what should I order for the MicroSD card reader?

If you're going to roll your own board, you might just want to use a regular SD card-- lots easier to solder. ;-) If you really want a microSD card try "SCHA" in mouser.com or Digikey.com. (SCHA is the series number from Alps, there's all sorts of variations depending on where you want the contacts, how you want the connector to work, etc.) I picked that particular one because it had a push/push eject mechanism (neat!) and just so happened to fit on a 0.6" wide module. ;-)

I don't really care if its microSD or not, as long as it works. So what should I order to read them. I found This page on Digikey. Am I even remotely close to the right place?

you can always go with a 'dasa' or 'dt006' programmer, if you have a serial/parallel port. super cheap!

I see the official parts list and understand that there are some unneeded parts. I'm a complete noob and while I've done a bit of reading this will be a learning project for me and I'd like to start off by building this on a breadboard. Can anyone put together a short list of musts to get started? Thanks

Here's the minimum parts you will need for a protoboard. Note that you may not get optimal results on a proto (noise and capacitance).

I assume you will cut the connector wires and plug-em directly on the board.

Code: Select all

1 A324-ND SOCKET ADAPTR SOJ/32PIN .400
1 CP-1431-ND CONN RCA JACK DUAL R/A WHT/YEL
10 P75.0CACT-ND RES METAL FILM 75.0 OHM 1/4W 1%
5 383XBK-ND RES 383 OHM 1/4W 1% METAL FILM
10 768XBK-ND RES 768 OHM 1/4W 1% METAL FILM
5 634XBK-ND RES 634 OHM 1/4W 1% METAL FILM
5 316XBK-ND RES 316 OHM 1/4W 1% METAL FILM
5 604XBK-ND RES 604 OHM 1/4W 1% METAL FILM
1 3386F-501LF-ND POT 500 OHM 3/8" SQ CERM SL ST (not really required could just put 2 series resistance -- TBD)
10 P966-ND CAP ELECT 10UF 16V KS RADIAL
10 P962-ND CAP ELECT 47UF 10V KS RADIAL
10 P990-ND CAP ELECT .47UF 50V KS RADIAL
10 495-3392-1-ND CAP CER .10UF 50V X7R 20% RAD
1 493-1284-ND CAP 220UF 16V ELECT VZ RADIAL
10 BC1005CT-ND CAP 22PF 50V CERAMIC C0G 5%
1 478-1838-ND CAP TANTALUM 10UF 10V 10% RAD
1 AD725ARZ-ND IC ENCODER RGB TO NTSC 16-SOIC
1 ATMEGA644-20PU-ND IC AVR MCU FLASH 64K 40DIP (currently out of stock at Digikey. Mouser.com has them)
1 LM2940CT-5.0-ND IC REGULATOR LDO 1A TO-220
1 300-8455-ND CRYSTAL 28.63636 MHZ CYL TYPE

These can help soldering the AD725 on the SOJ SOCKET ADAPTER (not essential, but greatly helps):
1 KE1808-ND FLUX PEN WATER SOLUBLE 2331-ZX
Note that you may need less resistors if you use Clay's AVCore DAC. Perhaps he could dump the part required in here.
