PCB or stripboard layout

Topics regarding the Uzebox hardware/AVCore/BaseBoard (i.e: PCB, resistors, connectors, part list, schematics, hardware issues, etc.) should go here.

That looks great. Tell us if it works. When we add the other features it would be nice if you could put them in your PCB.

Thanks,

Looks good Monger. For the power( +5V) and GND traces, make them as fat as you can (24 mils if possible). This will really give you a better powersupply voltage (much less ripple/noise). Let me know how much you are able to get the pcbs made for when you finish. I will compare it to a place I use, & let you know if the price is better.

Yep, I'll be making both the traces and the pads a lot thicker. I use the iron-on method to create my own PCBs which is easier when the traces are as thick as you can make them:

Very nice! Can you generate Gerber files so it could be manufactured with silk screen and green mask for that ultimate pro look? Also, what PCB tool do you use?

Cheers, and thanks for sharing!

I made a PCB for the Parallax Propeller Chip last year.

I used nearly every milimeter and had a hard time routing everything :)

But i think this time ill go for a ultrasmall SMD PCB :)
The good thing about SMD is, you need alot less space and that makes
the price of the PCB much cheaper.
You could maybe even embed the PCB into a joystick :D

And soldering SMD isnt that hard, here is a good video tutorial :

For cheap PCBs (in Volumes more than 20) this is a nice manufacturer :

Based in China but with great quality and good prices.
You have to pay one time tooling costs, but if you reorder, the price
goes down. And delivery only needed 2 days via UPS express :)
