Re: (The return of) Jubatian!
Hey, just arrived here reading through all the LOT of things happening since my absence! Wow, quite active and busy around here, pretty awesome that it still lives on, all of you keeping it alive! Unfortunately life hit me pretty dang hard during the pandemic and afterwards, effects of which are sti...

Re: Making NES Gauntlet
Wow, quite some investigation ongoing there! Thinking about video modes, and looking at a gameplay video of Gauntlet. Yes, Video Mode 748 kinda wasn't made with that in mind, anticipating the game map to sit in the SPI RAM. Normally the most natural approach would be using the RAM tiles, but then as...

Re: Outpost in the Dragon's Maw
Nice :) - that's sort of about the intended difficulty level I think approaching to around there, though the game as I carefully investigated should be able to function proper up to around month 150 or so. Not like it would crash or anything, but by then it starts to reach the limit of what dragons ...

Re: Kernel addon for support for slow game controllers
Huh, interesting that this got picked up! :) What you could find in the Bootloader was intentionally so, deviating from the kernel as it was then - forward thinking to make sure the Bootloader worked well with slow controllers (which popped up on occasions even back then). Flight of a Dragon's custo...

Re: mmc_lib vs Bootloader V5 vs PFF vs FatFS vs sdBase(sdSimple)
On FAT filesystems, FAT-32 don't really have any advantage when looking at the Uzebox, it only makes things easier... Well, somewhat, with the arrival of SDXC cards which are in fact SDHC for their behaviour, but are meant to be formatted with exFAT. But at least those are clearly identified, while ...

Re: Thoughts on a "2-part" bootloader?
I added a comment in the V5 Bootloader topic detailing the ROM usage of various parts of the Bootloader: https://uzebox.org/forums/viewtopic.php?p=36317#p36317 In short, it is 2 KBytes important stuff, 2 KBytes UI faff. Wouldn't much like a 2 part bootloader myself, but in the post before ( https://...

Re: Uzebox Bootloader V5
(Rather adding this here instead of https://uzebox.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=11413 as it gives some insight into what makes up the V5 Bootloader as it is now at subversion 12) Took a look at the current ROM usage of the Bootloader. A bit more depth to it than "there is 2 bytes left" at a...

Re: Uzebox Bootloader V5
Just was reading through this topic since I had last been here some 3 years ago. See the .hex is updated already on the opening post, thank you! As for features, as the Bootloader is now, I don't think much is possible to do within the 4 KBytes available, handling SDSC and SDHC cards with either FAT...

Re: Outpost in the Dragon's Maw
Hey, thank you! :) - added some extras to the opening post, hope it gives some hints on how to play it, or maybe some ideas on how to possibly last longer before the inevitable ;) Will likely balance it some still, it isn't easy, and requires actually playing it to find how it feels right - while al...

Outpost in the Dragon's Maw
A lush new continent was discovered recently far across the seas, and you are tasked with setting up the first outpost on its shores. Settlers arriving, the unconquered wilderness rich with resources, what could go wrong? Soon you realize things are not as nice as they seemed first when reports of l...
