Circuit Cellar and Elektor merge

I've just read this news in my inbox:

Elektor magazine has taken over Steve Ciarcia's Circuit Cellar magazine.

I've been subscribed to both magazines for years so I hope we don't see many changes that effect each magazine style and content.

Re: Zuzebox!

It's taken me longer than I hoped to make this small update to Zuzebox. What I've done with this update is to actually simplify the design by removing the surface mount components for the USB circuit. I still intend to have the USB interface but I've decided to use a plug in USB module instead of a ...

Re: Ciarcia’s Circuit Cellar Books at Gogglebooks

I 've always like circuit cellar...love that one about building your own Z80 computer! Steves Ciarcias articles was one of the main reasons I used to buy Byte magazine, it was a shame when he left. He started his own magazine Circuit Cellar and that is a very good magazine for computing related ele...

Ciarcia’s Circuit Cellar Books at Gogglebooks

Steve Ciarcia’s Circuit Cellar articles from the heydays of Byte magazine were immortalized in a multi-volume set of books published in the late 1970’s and the 1980’s. Unfortunately these books have been out of print for many years. But fear not, you can now find them on Goggle Books. I've listed th...

Re: Zuzebox!

The FTDI chip FT232R is the one I'm planning on using but I'm putting down a DIP module outline as well to make the PCB more plug and play. The idea is for less experienced builders to build the basic through hole design, then add extra functionality (USB, Ethernet etc.) through DIP modules. I've be...

Re: ATmega1284P update

Yay, I can't wait for this! Maybe I'll be able to continue my sonic port with more breathing space :-p Yeah they've been a long time coming. Only thing I noticed was the part number 1284P had the "P" suffix which indicates its a pico-powered device. Wasn't there some issues with overclock...

Re: superUzebox idea

I'm definitely not knocking you or the superUzebox because as I've already said I think it's a really cool project, but having hand soldered 208-pins SM chips in the past its not an easy thing to do and get right and I feel IMO it will scare off a lot of builders. But having said that I'm sure the o...
