Beagle Board

I'd read about this before and now it seems they've updated it again:
http://beagleboard.org/

I realise this is nowhere near as simplified as an Uzebox but it sure packs some power for such a cheap price and such a small footprint - also only uses 2w of power! :-p

SD card and your computer. I currently also have a usb port added in there so that things like firmware updates would require little more than a USB A to B cable plus a computer. I think this has been discussed numerous times, but the "limiting" factor for me is having to "flash"...

Re: If only I could make this.

I like the bit about how it was originally done by wrapping the scan lines, if the grass is the same on either side you'd never notice that the right part of one side of the screen was on the left instead - nice idea.

Re: If only I could make this.

I started writing one of these games in flash/as3 and if you were up to the challenge of writing your own video mode (specific for the game) you could quite possibly pull this off on the uzebox - although Im' not sure what resolution you'd be able to get :-p. Ignoring sprites the actual background s...

Re: New Uzebox guy looking to have a couple questions answered

Sonic in 560 bytes!, hehe. The original Sonic 1 for genesis was 512k, which is smaller than some emails!! but once you start working with these tiny micros 512k seems like infinity! :-p. The biggest challenge is compressing the graphics and handling graphic output - if all of that could be handled b...

Re: Per-line "frame" buffer

The main issue is at "normal" resolutions we only really have 7 clocks per pixel, considering a read from flash uses 3 clocks and the output 1 clock there's hardly any time to do anything else... even using buffers in ram at 2 clocks leaves very little room - this is why I was dropping the...
