Re: un1b0x - 2020 EUzebox BOM

I needed to buy a file to remove some small plastic lips on the SCART connector to get it to glue properly and I also added super glue to list of required tools. How it didn't occur to me that I could have superglued a few things to the board... With the Scart, there is a trick I found (the u...

Re: Is there a reliable way to tell if a PCM sound is currently playing?

The positions you are checking against are actually C pointers, at low level, absolute addresses. Unless you used some wizardry to overlap different samples, the end of sample pointer is unique, so checking it that way is fine. However to keep it nice, you shouldn't compare to absolute addresses wri...

Re: CUzeBox - The new official Uzebox emulator

Hey, anyone having Windows and experienced the broken sound issue, could you give this CUzeBox build a go with an SDL library version past 2.0.5? (The zip has an earlier SDL.dll in it, I just packed it the usual way for a binary release). Didn't commit it yet since I don't know the effect. I tried t...

Re: Defender

I think defender could be pretty well done in a video mode that was 2BPP and had 128 ram tiles and 128 rom tiles. Mode 52 ! Since it can also have colour attributes, with some creative coding, it might be able to have more than 4 colours on the main game field. Otherwise the laser may be cheated by...

I was going to attach the crystal but I'm unsure if its polarity / orientation matters?
No, it doesn't matter, so can go in either way! (Same for the 22pF and the 100nF caps, no polarity on those small capacitance ones as they are ceramic caps)

Re: Unibox - WIP 2020 EUzebox BOM

The Euzebox schematic for the SCART connector specifies a 3K resistor yet I currently only have 3.1K resistors, as these are used for the regular UB. Do you think I'll get away with using a 3.1K in place of the 3K? It is okay, however the color reproduction will suffer slightly assuming the other r...

Re: Unibox - WIP 2020 EUzebox BOM

I'm looking into wiring up the power circuit. I am presuming that the ground pin on the 7805 linear voltage regulator will be used as the ground? I'll have to buy a screw to screw the LVR into the breadboard. Would a certain material, type or size of screw be better for screwing into a breadboard o...

Re: Unibox - WIP 2020 EUzebox BOM

Have you posted pics of your Uzebox Jubatian? Did you build a regular UB or a Euzebox? I'm interested to see how you laid everything out as you have the same breadboard. Believe me, you probably wouldn't want to do this ! These are two Uzebox-like experiments, scroll down to see the second on...

Re: Unibox - WIP 2020 EUzebox BOM

It is very expensive for me to buy anything from DigiKey and Mouser here in the UK. Even the smallest, lightest component incurs £14 postage so I would prefer if I could've bought everything from RS or Farnell. It would be good to see someone iterate on this BOM to see if they can buy everything fr...

Re: Unibox - WIP 2020 EUzebox BOM

I didn't want to wait another month for that one resistor to arrive from RS so I've ordered some from Farnell: Just asking, why so many places? When I started looking for components, I ended up with Mouser, it seems they have fairly good selector for hobbyist usage (like for 10K resistors this filt...
