Re: Chuckie Egg

Thanks for the tips about crashes - I'll give it a go. No - no scrolling is need for the 160 mode. A method of setting up any X x Y resolution mode3 like screen would be useful - a good way to save a little ram. I would say the lack of ram is the Uzes biggest limitation - ram always gives flexibilit...

Re: Chuckie Egg

Hi, Thanks for the feedback, chaps - great to see it added to the Wiki! There's 8 levels in the game then the baddies change their patterns. Here's a link to the ultimate Chuckie Egg fansite with loads of info: http://www.bagshot-row.org/chuckie-egg/ I'm afraid I'm not that fast -- Mike Elson wrote ...

Re: STK500 compatible programmer

You don't say what OS you're using. I have Windows XP. When I connected the STK500 via the USB port it's asks for a driver that I installed from here: http://www.olimex.com/dev/soft/avr/AVR-ISP500/driver-avr-isp500.zip To check if your driver is installed ok, right click on my computer select proper...

Re: Free ram & sprite restrictions?

Hi, I've been playing around with my my Uzebox recently and wondering the same thing. When making a program that has no variables it seems to be using up 3724 bytes aready which only leaves 4096-3724 = 372 bytes for your program. It tells you how many Data bytes are used when you compile the program...

Question about the sd card bootloader

Yeah I saw Sparkfun were out of stock now - but at least I can use it for the time being with Joystick#B. All I have is a multimeter, the board looks good - I'll email you a photo of it and you can see is anything looks bad. In the meantime I'm going to flash the bootloader so I can use the sd card....

Re: Just got a Uzebox! Need help with setup.

Success and failure! That joystick test program is great! I did indeed buy a Sparkfun clone controller but there's nothing wrong with that - it seems that there is something wrong with port#0 - the program thinks a mouse is connected even when nothing is in the port. I've got a real SNES controller ...

Re: Just got a Uzebox! Need help with setup.

Thanks for the reply - most helpful. I've got it flashing successfully now - the raised tab faces the AVcore. (So pin1 is on the same side on both cables). Unfortunately most programs boot but appear to freeze up (like Tetris, Arkanoid) - I'm guessing there's something wrong with the joystick. ESD A...

Just got a Uzebox! Need help with setup.

Hi, Well I finally did it and got myself a Sparkfun Uzebox! Thanks for Uze with his advice about getting a STK500 programmer - that wasn't initially clear to me that one was necessary. I've been waiting all year it seems for one to become available - then the price was putting me off - but I took th...
