Re: Uzenet default parameters

Really happy to hear this! :D It's essential to use the software reset because the esp8266 reset pin is only connected to the 644! So as a design rule, insure the CH_PD pin is low when not needing the module (ie nothing to do by default) and high when required, to help save battery life on the porta...

Re: The quest to a portable Uzebox - update!

start by putting an LC filter between the ESP VCC and the rest of the circuit to see if the noise is conducted that way. What values would you recommend? Edit: I made a small breakout board with a separate regulator and plenty of caps (100nf, 220uf, 10Uf) to no avail, I still get dips in the voltag...

Re: The quest to a portable Uzebox - update!

The noise might be intentionally radiated from the antenna and not GND related. Your input to the Audio section - which I assume is an LM386 - looks like signal goes through an RC filter then a pot. This is possibly going to be a fairly high impedance point for noise to get in. Try adding a short 1...

Re: The quest to a portable Uzebox - update!

Another quick update. I reassembled the board in the case hoping the static would be less noticeable but alas no. Seems even a bit worst. :( Not to my standard of quality I'd say the least. So I'll need to do some hacking and testing trying to externalize the esp8266 to a breakout add its own regula...

Re: Uzenet default parameters

For me the biggest concern is that pressing the reset button on the Uzebox, does nothing to the current state of the WIFI module. So you might set the defaults with a dedicated ROM, but most applications will use and set (as they should) the current state (or '_CUR' commands) to suit their needs. R...

Re: Uzenet

you don't know if the module is perhaps already in passthrough mode (Resetting the Uzebox does nothing to the state of the Wifi module it seems. So your game can boot up while the module is still in passthrough mode) nor do you know if it's even there! Just re-read this bit and find it quite perple...

Re: The quest to a portable Uzebox - update!

SD support is pretty strong now (especially with the new bootloader.) What if WiFi settings could be stored in a text file and read from there instead? This way you could adjust wifi settings without the need to recompile the program. Perhaps even a separate file per game? Or even just integrate it...

Re: Best buy pcb

I concur with jlcpcb, they are trying to get in the market and are really competitive. Look at the PCBs from my portable thread, quality is flawless, their site it very easy to use, and the price is ridiculously low. I don't throw flowers easily, but they merit all of it.

Yes, but the Uzebox Portable design is infused with love! And soft rounded corners! :D
I could not have said it better!
