The Speakjet uses an other aproach. It synthesizes speech using a vocal tract model replicated by noise and pulse generators and filters. Parralax produces a Board based on their self developed 8 Core Propeller Microcontroller, called Hydra. Its a Game development Board too, and uses NES joypad-connectors.
