Re: BitBox

Hi ! Sorry for being non-available on the email address, I was on vacation ... i'm readying your order. Keep in mind that the emulator is really a SDL backend of the API in fact rather than a full ARM STM32 /cortex-m4 chip emulator. i'm starting to cxhange the way I report to it because it's really....

Re: Lets think a bit about an XMegaBox

I checked the BitBox Micro's specs, just one curiosity. Why the decision for mono sound? Well, mono sound is twice simpler than stereo to generate, and we wanted the micro to be as simple as possible. I personally don't find stereo that much better for simple systems, and the bitbox is not superced...

Re: Lets think a bit about an XMegaBox

Hi, I'm makapuf (maker of the Bitbox) Thanks for the notification ! Just as a co incidence, we've just released a few month ago the bitbox micro which apart from halving every spec of the bitbox (incl speed, memory, nb of components, size and cost :) ) , uses a RRRGGBBL VGA out DAC (shared bit betwe...

Re: game console project/HQVGA timing parameters

Well in fact generally it's the HSync signal that has a minimum for the monitor to sync. Specs vary, but nowadays it's generally around 30kHz . It depends on how fast tour refresh rate is (again range is in monitors specs) how large your vsync is but if you take 60Hz that's a minimum lines of 500. W...

Re: Thinking about STMUzebox

just a quick list of updates - I don't want to pollute the forum : - bitbox rev2 (including USB gamepads/mouse/kb, 15 bit color and stereo sound) is ready & avail for sale (still completely opensource/HW) - a gameboy emulator has been developed (on rev1, need to port it) - video playing is avail...

Re: Thinking about STMUzebox

Hi Matej ! Thanks for your interest. To follow what's ongoing on the bitbox you can look either at the blog ( http://bitboxconsole.blogspot.com or the mailing list / google group https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/bitbox-console ). We're currently designing a revision 2 of the board. It's relat...

Re: Thinking about STMUzebox

Ahh this is nice. How much cost such Bitbox board? Can I use C for games? Can I use MOD and PNG for graphics? The bitbox is not currently for sale. I'm planning to, however (but not before a few months) : if things go well, I'll present an upgraded version "r2" (with many improvements fro...

Re: Thinking about STMUzebox

some news from the bitbox stm32 prototype console (based on stm32f4) : prototype advanced, a running preview of a game. see blog post at http://bitboxconsole.blogspot.fr/2013/09/bitbox-news.html for screenshots (I'll try to post a video). There are photos of the prototype & screenshots, (I don't...

Re: Thinking about STMUzebox

Yup, I will definitely check the new driving logic (once I stabilize a bit the current version), very interesting. However, I had to change VGA pins / sync ports. I will check whether it's drivable by timers (or if I need to change timer). I use PC10/11 which by the datasheet don't seem to be drivab...

Re: Thinking about STMUzebox

Hi all, just a quick reply on the preceding comment, cause I did almost exactly something resembling that for the last few months thanks to this very thread on this very forum : I bit the bullet and prototyped a simple console based on stm32f4, with some (prototype !) game engine software to ease ga...
