Re: Arduinocade -

Wow! Impressive! Seems like you've really put some work into it! I've written some online tools for graphics. They may assist you a bit. Actually, I've been able to convert the output into JavaScript for graphics too. https://www.nicksen782.net/UAM/APP_gconvert/ The source may seem a little hairy bu...

Re: /* Bot Spam and IP Bans */

Yeah, it deleted posts based on: known spammers, Cyrillic text, and the count of "spammy" words in a topic title, and additionally if a user posts too many times within a minute. So, I check it periodically to see if it is working. I usually add a new known spammer manually each day and also do a us...

Re: /* Bot Spam and IP Bans */

Is it really running every 5 minutes? Yes it is. It runs as a cron job set for every 5 minutes. I still have to check periodically to make sure it is working and to add new known spammers but the process is much easier now. I'm leaving the current spam for now. These ones would be difficult to dete...

Re: /* Bot Spam and IP Bans */

An update: The spam bots have returned. I turned the counter-bot (I Hate Spam) on to do some deletions. I had not had a need to use it for a while since the spam has been minimal. I had also started a new version of I Hate Spam but had to stop work on it since I didn't have much in the way of test c...

Re: Super Mario Land

I see the tilegen program. It appears to read the C output from GIMP. I've never had to work with a GIMP palette. I've been converting from canvas to the Uzebox colorspace by adjusting the rgba to be rgb332 and then converting that to text that is a c array. So, VRAM isn't just a chunk and ram_tiles...

Re: Super Mario Land

I see the export as c header option in GIMP. How does this handle tile de-duplication though? So, there is VRAM and that's it? Tiles are indexed like in mode 3? What about flash tile ids vs ram tile ids? In mode 3 the ram tile ids come first. To draw a flash tile map each tile in the tile map must h...

Re: Super Mario Land

Okay. So, I'll need to change all my tile data and maps to work with mode 52. I would want to modify my own toolset to do that. How do you create the actual tiles? Tile maps are handled similar, right? I don't think I need to change tilesets anywhere other than for the first two rows which I had as ...

Re: Super Mario Land

Maybe we need some kind of list of compiler/linker options that are labeled such as "DON'T USE THIS! BAD IDEA!". Also, I should have understood better what they did before I started using them. So, now I have all the graphics and things move well. I think I'll have some sort of game world struct tha...
