Re: Lightweight IDE for Linux, BSD etc

The only thing I don't like about micro is that it uses Go, which is a pretty big dependency. emacs is about 30 something MB but go by iself is about 80 MB. I also like that micro is just the one executable. I think micro offers me a more streamlined (if we ignore the size of go) and modern text edi...

Re: IKD - Atari Combat remake

It seems a few of the attributions are wrong on the wiki. Vectorgame is credited to CF on its wiki page but the source says it was Alec who wrote it. For Uzewars it credits 'Stache' but the source code says Alec also wrote that. My next step is either making the tank shoot (in the direction the spri...

Re: IKD - Atari Combat remake

Chickens in Choppers - cool game CF! I'd not checked it out until now. Shame I can't find a link to the source. Have you uploaded the source anywhere? Uzewars - Uses a mix of asm and C. Bit over my head. Uzetroids - I presume this is what you meant when you said Asteroids? Its page is missing from t...

Re: IKD - Atari Combat remake

It's to late for me to look at it tonight but I might find something useful in the source for Uzebox racer? http://uzebox.org/wiki/Joyrider $ git clone https://bitbucket.org/jhhoward/uzeboxracer.git That's a much more complex game than anything I could consider attempting yet so it may be bit a bit ...

Re: IKD - Atari Combat remake

Did a little more today. The sprite now 'rotates' when you push left/right so that's the easy tank drawing bits done, now I need to think how do I make it move in the direction that the tank is facing? If anyone knows of some similar code for this bit in an existing open source UB game, let me know....

Re: IKD - Atari Combat remake

My aim is not a 100% faithful port so I'm not really interested in seeing the disassembly. My initial aim is to learn enough to make a passable replica. If I can get the original game done then I'll probably add in elements from the sequel too, yes.

Re: Lightweight IDE for Linux, BSD etc

I was wrong about micro's support for terminals. I've got nice terminal integration working now. I had to add the line: "Alt-t": "command:hsplit, command:term", Into ~/.config/micro/bindings.json, now I can lauch a new terminal in micro just by hitting alt+t. It looks like I'll be able to run builds ...

Re: Lightweight IDE for Linux, BSD etc

I've tried micro now. It seems quite nice but it doesn't seem to let you open a shell in a split. You can run terminal commands from within micro, but it temp quits out of micro whilst you use the terminal, which isn't the greatest workflow. I'd currently have to use it with tmux or screen which is ...

Re: Lightweight IDE for Linux, BSD etc

I must admit I've never given emacs a proper chance. I am presuming it can do a split display (ie half of the display as a text editor, half as a console) without me having to use screen or tmux and that I can bind custom key combos to shell commands? That's pretty much all I want right now, except ...

Re: IKD - Atari Combat remake

I don't foresee me having to fight off contributors but I genuinely don't want anyone to make any pull requests or do anything else for me although your feedback and recommendations will be much appreciated as I progress and inevitably get stuck.
